Tree for Wood Pillar was Cut in 2820 B.C.
The wood pillar recovered last fall from the
low northern wetland was sliced and its age
determined by carbon dating. It was found to
have been cut in the year 2820 B.C.(±15years).
It was also learned that the climate was cooling
at the time- another major clue in understanding
the Jomon Age and its environment.
